I'm looking for any information on my family history from Bremen Haven. Leverentz is the last name. Supposedly one of my relatives was the Bergermeister, whatever that is.

Sorry, but I can't help specifically with your family. Since I am originally from Bremen I would like to give you some general information, which might get you on track.
The name of the city is Bremerhaven (harbor of Bremen). The position you say your ancestor had was Buergermeister (mayor). Even though I searched the web some I could not find mayor Leverenz. There will be difinitely literature about this, but not accessible from my pc.

I was born and currently live in South Huntington,LI.,NY. Who was your father? My grandfather was born in Bremenhaven and also is currently on Long Island. His name is Herbert Kraese. This is prety cool. I recently saw a bunch of my coisinsand they were talking about having some sort of a get together in the future. How old are you? I'm 33, married, a 4 year old son and another due in September.

My father's name was Otto and so was his father's. I have been checking in Germany for some information and it seems my grandmother and uncle Eugene (my father's brother) came to America in 1927. I believe your father's family came over in 1925. It seems the family was from Hannover, Germany in lower Saxony.

I'm a bit older than you. I was born in 1950, my brother, Fred, in 1949, and my sister, Barbara, in 1953. We grew up in upper Manhattan. My father died in 1959.

I'd be curious to know who your cousins are. Could you give me names?

My father Richard has 3 brothers. Herbert , Ronald, and Thomas. My Uncle Herb has 5 kids, Herbert Jr., Marybeth, Karl, Deedee (i'm sure thats spelt wrong) and one more that I can't think of right now. My Uncle Ronald has 2 kids, Brandon and I can't remember the other one. My Uncle Thomas has 2 kids Danielle and Samantha. My parents had me and my sister Elizabeth. I know my father was born in the Bronx and the family moved out to Long Island when he was in his teens. I have been trying to trace my family back to Germany. I don't know how long my grandfather is going to be around so I want to learn as much as I can from him about the family. Phil

I was born in the Bronx as well. We moved to Dyckman Street over the 207th Street bridge when I was 4 years old. That was in 1954. Myh grandfather, Otto Kraese, was still livingi n the Bronx as well as my uncle Eugene and my Aunt Marie. Marie's last name was Eichler. My grandfather, Otto, lived well past my father, Otto. I remember when I was small visiting cousins out on Long Island. I remember someone named "Gisele". Do you recall anyone with that name?
My Uncle Eugene and Aunt Marie had three boys, Roger, Eugene,and Terry. Any of those names sound familiar?

Can you imagine? After all these years we have finally found other Kraese's? How very interesting. I would love to see pictures. Perhaps we can talk on the phone sometime?

I found out a little helpful information from my grandfather. Turns out my grandfathers father had 3 brothers, one of which stayed in Germany when the others came to America. His name was "Otto". Funny eh? So that means we are cousins probabally 2nd or 3rd. My father is closer to first cousin than anyting. Hope this helped out some. Talk to you soon. Phil
