My great grandmother is Marie Elizabeth Dauter born between Jan-March 1872 in Berlin, possibly immigrated to USA in 1891, settled in NJ. She married Henry Aue. My records show her mother as Maria Whilhelm Dauter b.1843 in Elbing W.Prussia who is married to Fredrick Braun. I am very confused as to why Marie Elizabeth uses the last name Dauter not Braun? ( is it possible William Dauter is her father?) I need clarification if Fredrick was married more than once? If either Marie was married more than once, any siblings? I also have the name Charlotte Dauter who married Adolf Kohn. Any help is appreciated.
