I have limited information on my Hesselbacher or Sommer line. My maternal great grandmother was Marie Hesselbacher. She was from Marktgraitz, Germany and married Andreas (Andrew) Sommer in Germany. They emigrated about 1888 because their first winter was the New York City Blizzard of 1888 (which was in March). Marie had a brother Conrad, whether he emigrated at the same time, earlier, or later I do not know. Conrad was married to an Emma. The Hesselbachers and Sommers in those early years moved between Jersey City, Guttenberg, NJ, and New York City but eventually settled in the Bronx and Staten Island.

I know that Marie and Conrad's father owned a dry goods store in Martkgraitz. Their mother was an invalid. Marie had to take care of her. It was after the mother died she met Andreas at a dance.

If you have any information on these Hesselbachers or Sommers I'd appreciate anything you can share.
