I was searching the IGI and found the following record for a Charlotte Loeffler, b. 1748, "Darmahine, Ballivick of
Bachlingen, Baden-Wuerttemburg." [Charlotte may be an ancestor of mine]
I examined the original Bächlingen church records (I assumed the person inputting the IGI didn't have a "ä" on their typewriter, and to confuse things further, there's also a Bechlingen and a Bahlingen in B-W), but no Charlotte.......certainly the IGI records are often wrong/misquoted/nonsense, but I got to wondering that it might be hard to make up something like this, i.e., Bächlingen is a small town, but what is Darmahine and Ballivick? The words don't even look German (was a translator a person who couldn't read German script??). Any thoughts about what this might mean/imply would be appreciated.
