My great, great grandfather Leo Stumpf was a participant in the failed 1848 revolution in Baden, and he came to the US in 1850. I am trying to find what town or village he came from in Baden, and the only clue I have is his revolutionary background. I think there must be records somewhere of petitions he may have signed, and possibly a prison record as well. Can anybody advise me?
