My ancestor is Josua Hasenclever, B: 1783 D: March 15, 1853 in his home in Remsheid. He had a number of children, including my Great Great Grandmother Marie Johanna Hasenclever who married into my Hilger (Hilliger) line in Remsheid, and likely your ancestor as well. He was a close personal friend of Goethe and Friedrick Wilhelm IV. He was a politician and industrialist, traveled the world, and also published a memoir entirtled "Mein Erinnerung" which contains much about the man, but is in old German. I will be visiting Remsheid this summer and will check out the ancestral home, Cleff House on Cleffstr 2, now housing the Werkzeug Museum.
