Austria (Austria-Hungary) ruled over many places and ethnic groups up until just after WW I (1918). So while their Citizenship at the time they were born many have been Austrian they were likely ethnically Polish. In the late 1700s the great Polish Empire was divided into 3 parts with the west going to Prussia, the east to Russia and the south to Austria.... this Austrian part was known as the crownland of Galicy. Any records for these 2 will be found in Poland or what is now the western part of Ukraine, not present day Austria....

Here is info from his ship manifest

Name: Jan Gubik
Arrival Date: 9 Feb 1911
Birth Date: abt 1881
Birth Location: Galicia
Birth Location Other: tylawa
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Polish
Port of Departure: Southampton, England
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Adriatic

While the manifest concurs with the census records it does show him being married to a Julia still living at Tylawa Destination Jersey City, NJ

In regards to your grandmother's name ending with SKA instead of SKI, this is a Polish custom that females surnames end in SKA

Can you attach a copy of their marriage record, so others can see it?
