My husband is from Pittsburgh but did not know a Ruth Zofchak from Pittsburgh. He and I now live in Michigan near the Michigan branch of the family.


I see you replied about the Gonsler's in the Alpena Mi Census in the early 1900's . That is the family. The name in the census was wrong and was spelled with an "a" instead of what My spelling was with an "o". I have a copy of there first purchase agreement on the farm they bought in Alpena Mi in the 1890's. Most of the birth certificates say that the mom and dad were from Austria. Also the applications for the service also said Austria. Some census reports say austria Hungary. The petition and citizenship papers say they were from Austria. I am stuck.
