Cecilia

Sigmund Trebitsch - is my great grandfather on my mother's side. I traced it down he married Joanne - they were both both in what is now Republic of Chex just outside of Trebic.

They lived and raised a family in Vienna.

Attached is a picture of Sigmund's Great Great Grandson along the side of his Grave. His wife Joanne and Ernestine are buried there. Ernestine would be a great aunt to me who dies at 18 of asthma.

You and I are probably distant cousins.

What I am trying to trace down is there was a pediatrician in the family who from what I was told saved the life of Franz Joseph's infant son.

If you would like to reach me you can at rshapiro2@msn.com

Bob Shapiro

I am a member of the Sucher family, originally from Doiber, now in St. Louis, Missouri. I have information on Anton and Cecelia Kern and family and am trying to find how they are related to the Sucher family. I believe they are based on info my mother, 95 yrs. old, remembers.

KAISERGRUBER

Guten Tag,
März 1826 an Peterwardein gestorben.

I have been doing research online via digital archives, but have hit a brick wall with an Austrian ancestor from Vienna. The registers for that region have apparently not been digitized, so I will need to find somebody who can personally go to the archives. Has anybody hired professional help in the area? I have communicated with a few genealogists that I found on the web, and am not sure they are the right match. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings from San Francisco...I am looking for the death certificate of my father Karl Scholz who was born in Vienna either 1902 or possibly 1903. I believe he may have passed away circa 1970 or a few years after. His spouse Lisl Scholz pre-deceased him several years earlier. My parents were divorced when I was a baby and contact with my dad was sporadic and dropped off when my mother and I left Austria. Am also curious as to who inherited as he had no other children.
Thank you so very much for any assistance,
Brigitta Scholz Agopian
Lillian "Bunni" GOLLERSTEPPER Gallert (b. 1935, d. 2010), Klosterneuburg

I am researching my grandmother Lillian "Bunni" Korman (b. 1935, d. 2010). She came to America from Klosterneuburg, Austria in 1938, which was a small farming town about 20 miles outside of Vienna. She was fleeing Nazi control in Austria and happened to escape due to her father’s (Rudy) military history. He had already been deported to a concentration camp (later got out and escaped with rest of family) but he had saved the newly elected mayor of Vienna’s life during their service in World War 1. He was able to get my grandmother, her mother (Ann) and himself out of the country. Rudy Gallert and Ann Gallert, who changed their last name from Gollerstepper to Gallert when they came to America, owned a small general store in Austria called “Sigmund Gollerstepper & Son.” My grandmother Lillian “Bunni” is an only child and came to America at the age of 3 (November 1938) on the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt. They settled in Washington Heights, New York. Ann's parents are Julius and Sarha Hoenberg, who are from Czechoslovakia. They were sent to Riga, Lithuania in cattle trains to be shot and buried in mass graves. Rudy parents were Sigmund "Oppa" Gollerstepper, who lived to be 102 years old (d. 1974) and Caroline Gollerstepper (d. 1943). Sigmund and Caroline came to America in 1939, one year after my grandmother. Sigmund lived in Hamden, CT and there was a story in the Bridgeport Post about the 97 year old man who quit smoking, which was written about him. Lillian "Bunni" married my grandfather Jerome Korman, and lived in Hamden, CT, Spring Valley, NY and Orange, CT throughout the majority of their adult lives. They later moved to Hunters Run community in Boyton Beach, FL in the winter and resided in Derby, CT in the summer. If you know anything about my grandmother or any of her relatives please help me out.

Researching: Korman, Gallert, Gollerstepper, Hoenberg

Zachary Lee Stone (University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT)
I have found a Ludwig Schvadlenka in Vienna in 1905. He was 19 at that time and from Skalica. I had looked at the Skalica records, both on film and on the internet, I couldn't find any Anna Schvadlenka who would match with my Ludwig's mother.

It would be interesting if this was the same Ludwig Schvadlenka even if he isn't related.

PJS

I have the manifest with Ludwig (Sudwig), Maria Dindl, Josephine and Suszanna Filipek for their arrival in New York. It is odd!

I have don't think Ludwig and Josephine were married. In the 1910 census Josepine (34 years) and Susie (13 years) are living with Thomas Filipek in Chicago. There are two other children Mary and Thomas born in Chicago. I have their Baptismal records at Saint Michael the Archangel in Chicago.

Ludovicus šeblonka was married to Maria Dyndl at the same church on 17 April 1910.

Thomas Trenčansky was a witness to the wedding. Thomas Trenčansky and his wife Francisca were the Godparents at the Baptism of Maria Filipek.

The Vienna Meldzettel has a record 18/5/1903 for Ludwik šeblonka, Schneidergehilfe, born in Wien, 27 years, single and Catholic. It looks like he left 22/5/1905 for "Amerika, Ciggago" He was living in District XVI (OttaKring). His previous residence also was District XVI. It looks like he was working for Josef Svoboda, his landlord? was Math? Kasterec?

In the 1910 US census Ludwig Shevlongi, 33, a tailor is living with his wife Maria in Chicago. Both are listed as Ger. German?, and emmigrated in 1905.

Thank you for your intest and continued help.
PJS

Your right.

Ludwig and Maria Dindl were married in Chicago in 1910. Suszanna and her children I found in the 1910 census. I don't think I found her and Thomas after 1920.

The Dindls sold their house/store to a Tomas Filipek. I don't know if it was the same person.

PJS
