Thanks for the help, I'll be sure to follow up on the info. Some of the names and dates to Ellis Island are....Bara 1907, Franca 1907, Francz 1906, Grga 1892, Janko 1892, Josif 1898, Magda 1907, Matya 1892, Myv 1898, Sima 1912, Vinko 1913. Most came from Ausrtia / Croatia. With a couple of them coming from Hungary. The only part of the family I am sure of is, My grandmother Mary, her siblings are Anthony, Frank, Rose, and Joseph. Their parents were Thomas and Rose. They all live in or near Cleveland, Ohio

Your welcome.
You know that you start the family tree with what you know and going backwards. Is any one of the GUNDICs that came thru EI related to your ancestor?
Was your ancestor naturalized citizen or had social security numbers? http://ssdi.rootsweb.com
Was your granmother born in USA or the "old country"? You need to follow her paper trail. Have you located the family in 1930 census? That is the census that would say if your ancestors were Na-naturalized, Al-alien or Pa - applied for first papers.

The GUNDIC you found all came from Croatia.

FYI prior to 1918 the Kingdom of Croatia was part of the Habsburg Empire aka Austria-Hungary in fact they all came from the same town... Kalje. Some had listed they were living in Agram (German for Zagreb) but they originated in Kalje.

So, are all the Gundic's one family? Why can I only find a hand few from the late 1800s to early 1900s? None of them are my greatgrand parents! Thank you so much for your help Robert.

Find them? Where? Ellis Island?

First of all Ellis Island was the immigrant processing station for the Port of New York from Dec 1892 to 1924, after 1924 immigrants were processed at US Embassies in the immigrants home country and Ellis Is, after 1924, was used as a detention center only. Between 1892 and 1924 the majority of immigrants arrived via Ellis Is, while others used Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore on the east coast and Galveston TX and New Orleans in the south. While some came via Canadian ports.

I found 11 Gundic's who arrived at Ellis between 1892 and 1913. I haven't looked at other ports to see if any came in somewhere else.
