Hi Richard, I was trying to find the history of a road in Door County, WI called Tryolean Pass. I just did a quick search to find that there were (last name) Netzer people in this area at one time. If your people came from the Tryol area perhaps they stayed in Door County for a time as they traveled into other parts of the state? People did come from Canada into Door County quite a bit. Maybe that's a clue for you or others trying to find the Netzer family in Wisconsin. :) Happy hunting! Oh, if you type in 'Tryolean Pass, Egg Harbor, WI' you will find it on the google map.

They had 4 Children Mary, Albert and Julia were all born in Austria or Germany and Agnes was born in Minnesota. Joseph and Albert came to the US in 1901 and Mary, came with Mary and Julia the following year. Any information would be helpful.

We visited Lenore Warger (Lorrie) in the late 1980's. She said we are family. Then had dinner with Gerlund and Ferdinand Buchbauer daughter and her husband. Also visited Manfred and wife at their house. We lost touch and did not know Lenore died. She had visited us in Miami several times.

I knew your Great Grandmother, my Aunt Virginia and lived next door to her in Crystal Falls, Michigan during most of my youth. I was born in Alpha, Michigan next door to your Grandmother Jean Trudell until four years old. I have much information on the Pintarelli family. My mother is Irene Pintarelli, 93 years old and mentally still sharp and full of information also. I visited Viarago, a small hamlet next to Pergine Valsugana, Tn, Italy. (Was South Tyrol, Austria) I made a DVD of the visit including our Pintarelli Tombstones and also of a genealogy book kept by the Priest going back to when the Catholic Church started to keep records. It seems all the Pintarelli families originate from Viarago. It is about a half hour East of Trento. the capital city of the Trentino. I stopped down to talk to my mom. I told her about your message and she asked for your name...I told her and she immediately said, "That is Aunt Manda's daughter, Ann's boy". She went on to explain how Ralph (?) would come to the Heim Funkhouser family reunions with a ham he had prepared. :)
When my grandmother (Mary Pizer) broke her leg in the 70's, Aunt Manda came and stayed with her for a while. They played cards and Aunt Manda helped grandma out. I also heard how Aunt Manda (we called her manda not Amanda) roller skated well into her 60's....I have to dig out more information but in records from Tyrol, we discovered that Mary Heim Funkhouser, who died at 102 was probably older and did not know that....her baptismal records indicated that...Send me a message with your email and I will send you the PDF file that I have completed.

My brother just dug out a photo from the Butler Eagle dated May 12, 1977. It is a "six Generation" photo that has your grandma Mary Pizor in it.In photo is Mary Funkhouser, Michelle McCurdy daughter of Thomas McCurdy, George McCurdy, Evelyn McCurdy.

You sent me a PDF file on the John Heim famile (born in 1844 in Tux in the zillertal region) and also information from church records on the Fankhauser (Funkhouser) family --- from that information I found out that my great grandmother, Mary Heim , was older than she thought.
I have so appreciated your act of kindness all these years --I believe I have a copy of the file but I am at work right now --

We definitely are cousins and I fondly remember Aunt Amanda--- she and "little gramma " lived together near north Washington.
My mom is Anna Louise Pizer Weries, daughter of Mary Funkhouser Pizer , daughter of Mary Heim Funhouser.
I will need to figure out where I have that PDF file and will send it---we have family traced back to the 1600's ...years ago someone in Tirol sent it to me...

it will have been Trentino, Italy, the "italian" province of "Tyrol". which belonged until 1919 to Austrian-Hungarian Empire. many moved from there to mines in the states.

My name is Tony Turini also. I'm fairly new to researching my family history. I came across your post just through searching around on here. I don't know where my family came from before they came here to America, but I would love to learn.
I know only as far back as my great grandfather who was a coal miner in a small town in Illinois that had mainly an Italian population. He died in a coal mining accident in the early 1900's when my grandfather was only three years old so he never really knew much about his history. I've been to his grave site and his last name on his tombstone is actually spelled Torino. So I thought we may have either been from the city or Torino in Italy or Turin but I'm not sure.
I got on ancestry to see if I could find a place in Italy where there was a large Turini population. It is very interesting to see that your family may have been from Austria. that would make sense being that they are so close to each other and from what I understand the borders have changed many times there over the years.
Like I said I'm fairly new to this any suggestions you may have to help me would be greatly appreciated. I hope your search is going well.

Did your Margaret Hofer die in Milwaukee in 1902? There were death notices, possibly an obit., published in Milwaukee's German newspapers for a Margaretha Hofer in 1902.

This is indexed in the collection: "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items", covering 1844-1950. Like many valuable research resources, the index is not online.

Baumann from Tirol

Hello, my g-g-g'mother (Anna) Maria Beaumann was born in Tirol in 1828, travelled from Rotterdam to London in 1853 and in 1857 from Liverpool to Australia. None of the passenger lists give her place of origin. I'm trying to find out where she came from in Tirol, have hit a brick wall, and would greatly appreciate any help or advice.
Her parents were Severin Baumann and Catharina Barthel.
I know it's not much to go on, but perhaps there was documentation of people leaving the country - any record at all really that might give me a clue.

My Dragatus Musich line begins with my grandmother 1.Frances born is 1866 and died in Joliet, IL in 1939, she had 7 sibblings, her parents were 2.Peter Musich (born 1814) and Margareth Snedez,(born 1821)(as far as I know they did not have a Georg) Peter Musich had six sibblings (one was George born in 1820, (this George had five children,I do not have one named Georg)their parents were; 3.Jure Muschisch (born 1782) and Catharina Schager, (born 1793); Jure's parents were 4. Michael Muzhizh and Maria Roshitsch married 1781.

I am certain that there is a connection somewhere along the line probably through the George born in 1820. Can you give me access to your tree? I would appreciate your sharing your information. I have been working on this line for many years. My tree is a public tree with Media on Ancestry.com. Where can I view your tree and information?

Ruth, we are related. George was my great, great grandfather. His youngest daughter, Theresa (married Adolph Schmitz), was my great grandmother on my mom's side. I'm 44, but have some very vivid memories of visiting with great-grandma Theresa, before she passed away in 1979. I also have Kenkel ancestors on my dad's side (Wingert).

some history more for the Rauch-family of Rauch-mill.
the mill was once on another place on Mühl-creek like now. nearly after WW1 a new mill was build on valley-ground in Mühlau directly at railway and river Inn. from time WW1 to WW2 the first factory became almost a ruin. the firm Rauch, through which the U.S. occupation after World War II supplied the population with wheat, also received corn. The family began to press at first on a small scale maize germ oil > factory was named Olea. it looks like meanwhile now demolished for new housing, how stated in this articel in 2010.their Kronen-Öl/ crown-oil was very wellknown. i remember when was a child also this oil and it still exists. but now is outsourced to Wels in Upper-Austria to a bigger location.

Leopold left after he had thrilled at the World Expo in London, the uses of electricity in 1886 to install a lighting system in various areas of the Rauch-mill. Even with the establishment of the Upper Rauch plant and the first power transmission system in Tyrol Leopold Rauch was fairvof his leadership.

Katharina "Katie" Herberth, whose mother was a Rauch, traveled from the US to visit relatives in Germany, Bavaria and Austria in 1923. Katie was born in Wiesenfeld, Karlstadt, Bavaria in 1873. Her parents, John and Katharina (Rauch) Herberth, married in Wiesenfeld in 1849. This is the earliest date with a corresponding location that I can find on the family. Again, thank you so much. Every clue helps, as I've been researching this family since 1973.

the Rauch have their orgin in Kauner-valley:
In 1809 the Tyrolean tried to expel the Bavarian and French occupation of the country. Franz Rauch from Kaunerberg, the father of the founder, was among the crowd Tyrolean farmers in Pontlatz undertook a daring raid on the enemy troops passing through. He was killed in action, leaving a large family. The oldest son, Anton, left the Tiroler Oberland, to look for work.

After much wandering, he found employment at the mill Kindl in Mühlau at Innsbruck. The owner of the company had no successor and sold the young miller operation against annuity. The mill on the creek near the church has been called since it was established in 1831 "Rauch(smoke) mill". Under the new owner of the operation grew and prospered. The water power of the mill-wheel set of the power line.

The founder's son, Leopold Rauch was delighted by the modern technology. At the World Exhibition in London, he saw that it is possible to transmit electrical power over long distances with a power cable. In 1888 he was several hundred meters away from the mill to build a power plant that supplied the operating power. So the first electric power transmission originated in Tyrol. The power station is still in operation today.

I recently received a box of papers belonging to the Rauch & the Reinhard families who originated in Bavaria and settled in Buffalo, Scott Co., Iowa, in 1871 and 1855, respectively. In the box, was a letter written 30 March 1885 from "Mühlau near Innsbruck, Tyrol."

It was written by a young lady named Mathilda to her brother, Adam. In it, she mentions Ludwig, Kätherla and Rosa. (Perhaps siblings of Mathilda?) She also mentions "Brother Johann" who has a position of pastor.

She states she can be written to at:
Anna Herb
at the house of the honorable Mr. Evers
Mühlau near Innsbruck
Tyrol

I have no idea what the surname of Adam, Mathilda & Johann is. The honorable Mr. Evers is also a mystery to me. I am quite stuck & have no idea where to find information on the persons mentioned in this letter. Any suggestions from my fellow researchers would be most appreciated.

I will gladly scan & post the letter if anyone is interested.

Inez McCoy Ewerz was the great-grandmother of my children. I had the privilege to meet "Ninee", as she was called, back in the late 70s/early 1980s. She was a great artist, specializing in the painting of floral designs on china plates, cups, etc. Born in Oklahoma Territory, not only was she vivacious but also spirited in her view of life. Her daughter, Catherine "Kay" was the grandmother of my kids. Kay was very musically talented but her intellect was like no other. Intellectually gifted, she was a member of Mensa and a painter in her own right. Kay had a younger brother, Robert (Bob) Ewerz who lived in Dallas...?
