Researching G Grandfather JOSEF PIHL born in Austria, town and location unknown, December 5 1851, father's name Joseph, mother's name Annie. Immigrated to Port of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Oct. 1867. Naturalized in 1874 in Wisconsin. Lived there the rest of his life. Married Mary Gribbe in 1876. All this information comes from his marriage certificate and naturalization papers and family. Can't find ship he came in on, need his birth town to follow up. Anybody out there that can help?
Also being naturlized at the same time was a Joseph PIEHL, born in Austria in 1832. Looks like father and son but according to family he came the US alone, sent by his family to avoid conscription into the German Army. It may be that the older Joseph Piehl is a relative or conincidence. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
