Are there still Streisels living in St. Louis and did you grow up there or in Europe?

Your original post is from 2004 and you say then that all your relatives on that side, (father and aunts/uncles) are deceased? That would mean they all died fairly young. Are you looking for medical information?

I may have a connection to you.

Alexander Augustin Dragan Graz: Muenzgraben

My great grandfather, Alexander Augustin Dragan, is a difficult case for me. He was born 1 Sept 1866 in Graz to Maria Dragan, born about 1859. I think Dragan was Maria's married name, but her husband (a junior officer in the Austria-Hungarian army) was not the father of Alexander. Family rumor says that she had an unplanned pregnancy with some high ranking personage who could not marry her due to rank. So, she was married off quickly to Mr. Dragan. I have NO idea where to look for records -- part of the problem being that Austria-Hungary is no longer an Empire -- and who has the military records?

Hi, hoping someone out there can help me. I have been trying for 2 years to track down my great grandmother Florence Marqueen Murrain. She married Charlie Robert Eyres on 17/11/1911 and she appears as a visitor on the 1911 census in Fremington Devon which states she was born in Salzburg, Austria. On her marriage certificate it states that her fathers name was Haunts Murrain - deceased - restaurant proprietor. This could actually be Hauntz as she had a son on 21/11/1911 called Hauntzel Charles Eyres (my grandfather). I have been told that she was sent to England for schooling with her brother as both of her parents had died. I cannot find any trace of her prior to 1911 on the 1901 census or passenger lists, it doesn't help that on her son's birth certificate she has called herself Floridina rather than Florence. She died in 1962 in High Wycome Buckinghamshire. I have also been told that there was a birth certificate with her name as Florenta (sadly this certificate was thrown out after her death). I am presuming that it was a birth certificate but was wondering if she had been naturalised.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received

You need to remember that until 1919 "Austria" meant the Austro-Hungarian Empire - nothing to do with today's little country of Austria. The empire covered vast areas from the Ukraine to Italy, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia. Serbia - and probably quite a bit more. You might get more help if you post on the Austria-Hungary boards under "Historical Regions".

I am looking for information on a town that existed in the Austria-Hungarian empire. It was called Lutatniki. My great grandfather listed it on his draft registration card as his birthplace (Lutatniki, Austria). I have had no success finding it on the internet and have come to the conclusion that it no longer exists. I would appreciate any information or leads that anyone can give me. I would love to know where in Austria or in another surrounding country that this town existed so I can one day visit it.

My research shows that he was born on or around June 1, 1772 in Ramingstein, Austria near Tamsweg, Austria where my family name (Gappmayer) is very prevalent. I'm looking for more information about him. Information like who is parents were, what his occupation was, was he married and pertinent dates in his life (birth, death, marriage, etc.) anything and everything I can find. Per the research that I've done, I've been unable to continue this line. Are there resources that could help me find more information in English? In German?

They sailed from Germany and arrived in Australia in 1855 on the "Daniel Ross", leaving 8 children behind in Switzerland.
I am descended from his brother Johann Baptist MARZOL 1823-1897 who later also came to Australia.

jagged.nexus@gmail.com

Hi,

I am looking for information about my Grandfather's Mother's family. Her name is Susan Leona Gruber, married to Clifford Felix, and her parents were Martin and Leopauldina (Paula) Gruber, came here in the early 1900s possibly very late 1800s from Austria. Any information at all would be great! I know almost nothing about them.

Thanks,
Caity Felix

John George (Johann Georg) Heidt/Heyd/Heid/Haid who was born abt. 1730. They came to Georgia on separate ships in 1734 and 1749, respectively. I'm trying to find out who Israel was married to and if there were any other children and when they were all born and where they lived. After WW I, 1918, Moravia and Bohemia formed the Czech part of Czechoslovakia.

His former residence may now be Přívoz (aka Oderfurt) located 169.2 miles E of Praha

http://www.mapquest.com/?le=t&q=49.8508%2C18.2599&zo...=

Olderberg is only a few miles from Privoz

The best place name search tool is found at the link below

http://www.jewishgen.org/communities/loctown.asp

Also note the record below which gives the more likely Slavic spelling as Eduard

Name: Eduard Koncakovsky
Year: 1902
Age: 42
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860
Place: Galveston, Texas
Source Publication Code: 206
Primary Immigrant: Koncakovsky, Eduard
Source Bibliography: BACA, LEO.
Jarosh - Konczakowski

Hi everyone! I am researching my husbands family and I've come to a roadblock. I am looking for guidance on how to start researching overseas or if anyone has connections to this family.

Helena Jarosh (known as Lena) born 1/2/1863 in Oderberg, Slezion, Austria married Edward Konczakowski in January of 1882. Her father was Joseph Jarosh but I do not have any of his information. I have confirmed that Edward came to the U.S. through Galveston on December 24, 1902 on the Chemnitz and it was stated on that document that his last place of residency was Priwos.

I would love to find either the Jarosh or Konczakowski line.

Thanks in advance for all and any information!
Tonya Schmidt
tonyaschmidt@hotmail.com

My line descends from Gottlieb and Salome Freyermuth Scheraus. I'm a little confused. Feel like I've searched all over. Everything I find has Johann Scheraus (b.1735) and Anna Maria Mohr (b.1738) as parents of Gottlieb. Gottlieb being born 1794. Dates don't match up here, at least with the mother. I've had father's as old as 71 having a new child, but again, mother's dob doesn't make sense. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks! Michelle
