My husband is an Omann, but we don't know if the Sterns County Omanns are related. His grandfather was Frank Omann, he lived in Menasha & St Croix County Wisconsin. Frank had 2 brothers that we know of - Henry who stayed in Austria, and Max who lived in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. We know his parents names were John and Kathrine or Elisabeth Wellner. (Frank's marriage certificate had one name, his death certificate another. Do you know if there is any tie between our Omanns and yours?

Have you found any info to show John Ferlitsh, born abt 1855 in Carinthia, Austria, being in Milwaukee? He and Agnes Busche were married around 1878 and the only child I have found is my great grandmother, Maria (Mary) Ferlitsch who was born 7 Dec 1880 in Pakau, Corinthia, Austria. She married my great grandfather, George Tschikof 3 Feb 1904 in Milwaukee. Any info you have on any Ferlitsch family would be AWESOME! Thanks! Rosemary Goodman

Rosemary -- I'm responding to your public postings, but I'm not researching the Ferlitsch family. I was searching for queries about Austrian ancestors in Milwaukee on the free site called Rootsweb (merged with the Ancestry message boards). I'm collecting evidence of the different 19th c. immigrant groups that used Milwaukee's German language papers besides the Germans: Austrians, Swiss, Bohemians, Hungarians, etc. I'm matching the queries to my ongoing project called "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

Those 2 Ferlitsch names are the only entries so far found in the index. The entries are for fairly brief death notices.

Gary Rebholz
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com

I'm not sure where you found my name with your Ferlitschs'. My great grandmother was Maria Ferlitsch and her parents were John Ferlitsch and Anges Busche all from Austria. How have you connected them to yours? I would love to find a connection. Thank you in advance for your responses. Rosemary

My grandfather Emil Pfrunder cousin to Anna Duncan

My grandfather Emil Pfrunder was born in Klagenfurt 12/29/1886.
His sister Berta Pfrunder was born in Klagenfurt 07/25/1888.
Their parents were Emil Pfrunder and Berta Pfister born in Switzerland 01/22/1860 and 12/24/1858.
A sister to Berta Pfister was Elisabeth Pfister.
Elisabeth was married to Alfred Denzler.
One of their children was Anna Denzler born 12/21/1894 in Switzerland. She later became one of Isadora Duncan's Isadorables and took the name Anna Duncan.
Most of the events are from Switzerland but----
Emil (born 1860) lived in Lepzig in Germany late 1884 and early 1885. He married Berta Pfister 01/31/1885, I don't know where. They lived in Klagenfurt in Austria from 1885 to 1898. Emil was employee of Ph. Knoch Leder und Riemen Fabrik in Klagenfurt.
I will appreciate if anyone can help me with information about my relatives.
By the way I have a genealogy tree made of a Swiss (I think) lawyer. It has a superscription "Stammbaum betreffend die Erben der am 8 Dez. 1909 verstorbenen Carolina Stehli, Ottis (or Otlis?), von Obfelden, Kt. Zurich."
It contains five generations with about one hundred names. Among them are Sidler, Pfeder, Bader, Binder, Hauser, Leuthardt?, Studer, Bär, Meier, Gut.
Here is Rosine Pfrunder, mother to Emil (born 1860). Rosine is dead 1865. The father to Emil (1860) is unknown. The parents to Rosine were Caspar Pfrunder died 1876 and Elisabeth Sidler, died 1862. All according to this genealogy tree. If anyone wants a copy, send me your email address and I will mail it to you.
Best regards.

Hi Nancy,

I got an e-mail from you yesterday via ancestry.com; however, I cannot connect with you there according to the e-mail link to ancestry.com--which is probably an old, dead account. So, I searched your account on ancestry.com and connected to you this way.

Your message to me was:
From: nancykidd18,
To: SouthwestDetroit,
1 of 1 messages, view conversation
Subject: Milw Schnabl research 2013

Hi Gary, I am back working on the Milw Schnabls, and think I have pieced together a few Schnabls that may be siblings, and related to your Valentin. Is it correct that Theresa Schnabl (who is married to Joseph Schnabl living at 881-28th St in 1905) is the sister of Valentin (b. Feb 1884), Rudolph (b. 1886) and Johann (b. 1870)? I noticed in the passenger manifests for both Valentin and Johann they each had declared they were joining their sister Theresia in Milwaukee, at 881-28th St. Did Johann eventually marry Emilie [possibly Sonenberg?] and have a son John? Sorry about all of the questions, I am just trying to make some sense out of all of the Schnabls and see who is connected to mine.
Thanks, Nancy

BTW, the pre-1930 address (881 28th Street) was very near North Avenue--on or near the 2400 block on 28th nowadays. That 28th Street address was on the (Ellis Island) manifest when Valentin arrived in early 1902, age 18.

I suppose it is possible for a maiden-name Schnabl to marry another Schnabl--something that would have to occur if my grandfather moved in with her sister after her marriage to Joseph Schnabl. All I thought was that my grandfather moved in with his brother--possibly the Joseph mentioned.

In any event, I am confused...

Gary Schnabl

I'm looking for any relatives of my late grandmother, Katharina Hassler, born in St Georgen am Lavanttal - Carinthia on 14 Nov 1903. She was the youngest of about 13 children but lost touch with all but one of her siblings, a sister Anna, after moving to Vienna as a young woman. Katharina never married and died in 1977 aged 73, leaving a daughter Hermine (my mum), who married Gunther Loicht and had a daughter Jennifer (me). Katharina's sister Anna had two sons - one moved to Canada as an adult, the other was killed in the war at 18. If anyone has any info about any of Katharina's siblings / their families, please let me know!

I've posted elsewhere in this Druml thread, but there was also a clipping in the German papers for Marcus Druml regarding his burial. It looks to me from the index that there are a couple of spellings/misspellings in these papers for this family group: Druml Drumel Drummel Dremel - and the "Lewien" reference. Also entries for an Anton Hebein -- just a couple of entries for that surname.

"Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
Gary Rebholz, compiler/editor
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping to access our historic immigrant culture.

This may not be of interest to you, but there are family death notices in the local German language papers for a Frank Druml who matches your posted date, and multiple notices and obit w/photo for an Agnes Druml-Mott.
Looking for Johann Schnabl (Married Agnes Wiseck) living in Austria. Alois Schnabl (born 1900 in Austria) was a brother or son, not sure. I know Alois married 2 Schuller (Mary and Pauline)girls(cousins) through arranged marriages. I am also looking for Valentine Nessman who married Marie (Schuller or Schnabl) not sure of her connection. It is believed that Johann Schnabl's mother was Helena Nessman. The families all seemed to come from same small village and stayed close to each other when they immigrated to US...all settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!!

I recently returned from a visit to Austria and Slovenia, to trace family roots. I had good success with my paternal grandmother's side (Korosic, Koroschitz), but no luck at all with my grandfather. (Kronfield, Cemernik). I noticed your thread "Kronlaende" and wonder if there had been a change to "Kronfield", as "Kronfield" does not sound Slovenian.

My Grandfather, Franc Cemernik, used this name up to and after his entry into the USA in 1907. He followed his half brother Joe Kronfield to the USA. After arrival he changed his name to Kronfield.

Franc Cemernik served in the army for 8 years and was stationed in Trieste. His entry papers to the US said his birthplace was Podgoric, which I took to mean the present day Kamnik. I visited the diocese in Kamnik and turned up nothing for "Cemernik" or "Kronfield".

Any comments or assistance would be appreciated. I am turning up a total blank.

Paul Kronfield
Houston TEXAS USA

Hello. I am researching my husbands side of the family for my children. I also have Schnabl, Schuller and Nessman in our records. They are also from West Milwaukee, immigrated in from Carinthia, Austria. There almost certainly has to be some connection. We have a Johann Schnabl, just not sure the connection. I have a Martin Schuller and I also have a Valentine Nessman. Do any of these possibly have a connection to you and your families in the area? Unfortunately, I do not have records beyond Alois Schnabl, the first generation here. thank you in advance for any possible help.

Thank you for these contacts. I had the same idea about 5 months ago. I sent a letter to each of these people in the phone book and many replied. I have regularly corresponded with two people there who have sent me many possible connections. Thank you for taking the time to send these to me. I will be making a trip there in June (2013). --Hope to meet some "cousins" when I do!

=) Mitch Noll

http://www.kath-kirche-kaernten.at/images/uploads/PA_Hermago...
Hermagor:
Geburtsbuch ab 1765
Trauungsbuch ab 1719
Sterbebuch ab 1719
