This is an update to a previous note. My great grandfather Michael Pratschner immigrated from Gerisdorf, Burgenland, Austria in 1866. His father Andreas Pratser and mother Elizabeth Schermann married in Gerisdorf. I have reviewed records from the LDS files that tie to him and find the spelling in most cases to be Pratser. In reviewing telephone records there are Pratschners here and in Austria but no Pratsers. Does anyone out there have any idea on the origin of this name and why the records would have shortened the name. I am also interested in any other information that any one has on this family
