Hello,
sorry, I cann´t good speak englisch, I am from Austria.
But I have taken pictures from the LDS from Ollersdorf and Stegersbach. There I have found a boychild named
Aloisius, born september 8th, 1872. His parents are:
Georgius Rothen and Anna Ifkovitcs, living in Stegersbach No. 187.

Before the birth of Alois Rothen I have only found following Theresia B. or P:
Theresia, daughter of Thomas BAUER u. Elisabeth Vukovics, born on sept. 13th, 1871.
Theresia, daughter of Stephanus BITTERMANN and Thecla Murlasics, born on oct 19th, 1871.
Theresia, daughter of Josephus PENDL and Maria Rothen, born on april 18th, 1871, living Stegersbach 289.
Theresia, daughtre of Joannes BITTERMANN and Theresia Ifkovics, born on dec 12th, 1870.
Theresia, daughter of Johann POTZMANN and Juliane Mandler, born on jun 8th, 1870, living Stegersbach 292
Theresia, daughter of Josephus PIPLITS and Maria Novosel, born on july 6th, 1870, living in Stegersbach 83.
Theresia, daughter of Theresia PEISCHL, living Ollersdorf (Baratfalva), born on oct th, 1869. I don´t search earlier.

My name is Robert L. Rothen and I was born and raised in Butler, PA. I am related to or grew up with the Petch, Erdos, Garimort, Hertz and Isovitsch families. I am researching my own family and would love to share what little I have gleaned thus far with anyone with an interest in these families.

Hello, I am from austria and my englisch is very bad. Sorry!
I have taken pictures from the films of the LDS from Stegersbach and other cities of the burgenland.
Now I have looked about your Alois Rothen between 1870 and 1874 and found only one Alois Rothen, born on sept 8, 1872. His parents are Georgius Rothen and Anna Ifkovics.

When you have the last name of his wife Therese, I can also search about her birth

Wow, thank you, Doris. It's been a while since I've checked these boards. Theresia's mother's name was Rosina Petch (Poetsch? Potsch? Sorry, I don't know her maiden name or her husband's first name) as spelled on the immigration manifest in 1909 (age: 55) and so would've been born about 1854. Theresia herself would've been born around 1872...and it looks like you found many in that date range. Thank you, again, for your efforts! Terrific!

Oh, but the Petsches come from Ruttenschlag...

...so you won't find Therese in Stegersbach birth records, Ruttenschlag (sp?) is now Hrutkov, Czech Republic. How Alois from Stegersbach (Szentelek) would've met Therese from Hrutkov (Ruttenschlag), I have no idea!

I read your message about LDS records on Burgenland. Do you have any information about Rohrbrunn? I am trying to learn more about my grandfather, Michael Wilfinger. He was born about 1881 and emigrated to New York in 1906 where he shortened the name to Wilfing.

Hope to hear from you,

Have you made use of the guidance available at the web site of the Burgenland Bunch?

Accordingly, both the Roman-catholic and Lutheran parishes for Rohrbrunn were located in Deutsch Kaltenbrunn. The civil recording (from October 1895 onwards) should have been in Rudersdorf. LDS should have films with the duplicates of the parish and civil records.

You need to keep in mind that the official names of the towns at about the birth of your grandfather were Hungarian. Rohrbrunn was Nádkút, Deutsch Kaltenbrunn was Némethidegkút, and Rudersdorf was Radafalva. First names would also have been recorded in their Hungarian versions, i.e., Mihály for Michael.

Have you located the arrival record in the US of your grandfather?

Thank you so much for the Hungarian versions of the German names. Yes, I have the ship's manifest information for my grandfather's arrival in NY in 1906.
Have used the Burgenland Bunch website, and obtained an 1858 list of households, which includes three with my grandfather's original last name. Inasmuch as I do not speak German or Hungarian, it will be a slow process for me.
