Midwifery records

I have been having such a difficult time locating any records on my ancestry on my mother's side. Since she was born in 1917 on St. Thomas, the sale of the Islands to the US caused an end to what appears to have been good record-keeping by the Danes into the rather haphazard U.S. military method, I was wondering if anyone has been able to find any records that had to do with the midwives that practiced then? In her family ( names include England, Karp, Duurloo and Barentzen) there appear to be very few Social Security records, I believe that they may have been in domestic service and not had Social Security. I was also told that a list was becoming available through the Ft. Christian Museum of the Old Danish Cemetery. Has anyone else heard about this (it surely would be wonderful!) Also, I know that one of my grandmothers was Queen of Carnival in the early 1900's does anyone have a "best source" to find out additional information about the Carnival Queens?
