My maternal GGGgrandmother's name was Mary RICHARDS. On the 1880 St. Thomas census she owned and lived at 38 Vester Gade with her son, John J. CHAPMAN (6 yrs.) (Joannis Josephus, baptismal name), daughters Sara VANBRACKEL (11yrs.) and Susana PETERSON (9 yrs.). Both girls were born in StX. I have descended from John. I wonder what ever happened to the girls. Also, from European extraction does the name VanBrackel come from?
