I've just published a historical fiction novel based in St. Croix at the time of the emancipation of the slave. Some of the characters are fictional, but several are historical figues who actually lived in the islands at the time. Among those ST. Croix names included are: Heyliger, Gyllich, Moore, Golden, Castonier, McFarlane, Lang, Newton,
Ogaard, Petersen, Sarauw, von Scholten.
