Hello Celine,
I lost my first message to you so I hope this effort is more successful. You are almost certainly related to the
Stapleton family of Thurlesbeag county Tipperary Ireland. That family seems to have an unbroken lineage srtetching back to REDMUND
Stapleton who was born in 1117 and married in 1142 and seems to have founded this particular dynasty. In 1601 another
Redmond (notice changed spelling)
Stapleton was born and he married in 1636 to a
FOGARTY whose father was one
Cornelius Fogarty.Children were Andrew B.1637,
Edmond B 1639 and died in the West Indies in 1686,William B.1641 died in
Paris in the same year.Another
Redmond appears to have been born in Monserrat in 1643 although my notes on this last event are not very legible. In short this
Stapleton family seem to have been a land owing family even before Feudal times as their presence in Thurlesbeag predates the Norman conquest of Ireland. They must have been a mixture of mercenary and Freebooter as
Miles Stapleton B.1263 was Killed at Bannockburn in 1314 although I am not sure on which he was fighting. His Parents were Nicholas
Stapleton and Margery
Basset of Rickmondshire
England, where I think there is a village of Stapleton.Ihope this is of assistance to you for my part I am having more trouble linking my Staoletons to there roots, which I am sure were the same in the distant past.Regards
Frank Kelly
