I have Smiths in my family tree who originated in St Vincent and migrated to Trinidad. They were not as far as I know of East Indian descent. However, I understand that one of my ancestors was called by a name pronounced as Lack-eye. I found it an unusual name for a black man until I saw your post and realized that there was the possibility of him being of East Indian descent. If you've come across a name that sounds like this, please let me know.
