This is what I have found, but a lot is guess work. It is the story of two St. Maarten families, the Richardsons and the Gumbes.(Please note that I don't know anything more than what is here.) IN THE RICHARDSON FAMILY (starting in the late 1600s), Generation I: John R; Gen II: Elisha R. and Mary R; Gen III: John R; Gen IV: Thomas Peter R. and Richard Robertson R. IN THE GUMBES FAMILY, Gen I: William G.; Gen II: Benjamin G, Sr. (m. Mary R.), and Jacob G (m. Mary Howell); Gen III children of Benjamin G: Benjamin G, Jr. (m. Sarah Salomons), and Elizabeth G (m. her cousin Thomas G); Gen III of Jacob G: Thomas G (m Elizabeth G), and Elizabeth Howell G. (m. John R.); Gen IV of Benjamin G, Jr.: Sarah G (m. Thomas Peter R.); Gen IV of Thomas G: William Henry G (m. Rebecca Price Wetherill). IN ADDITION there are four people who must belong here but I can only guess at the relation: Deborah G (m. Arthur Hodge, grandmother of Eliza Jane Heliger who m. Richard Robertson R.), and an unknown male Gumbes (m. Elizabeth Rogers) are probably Gen II (siblings of Benjamin and Jacob G). Henry G. (m. Anne Salomons) is probably Gen III (sibling of Benjamin or Thomas G.) Mary G (m. Thomas Gibbes) is probably Gen IV (sibling of Sarah or William Henry G). THIS ENDS MY STORY, early in the 19th century. If anyone can connect with more recent Gumbes, Gumbs, and Richardsons I would like to know. Best wishes, Os Cresson (g-g-g-grandson of William Henry Gumbes)
