I could use some help as I have no proof that my husband's Simmons was in Saba, but the family tradition of a pirate fits. Sounds to me as if one of the seafaring Simmons left Saba and settled in Newfoundland in the early to mid 1700s. Any ideas? I've been stuck on this one for a long time so any help appreciated.

The Inez Dinzey Horton you supplied me with is the same person I was looking for as well as Peter. Edward Simmon also went by the name Clinton he married a lady from Statia name Nellie DeGraff they had 14 kids together. They resided on St. Thomas Danish West Indies and then later in New York. There were four children born to Peter and Inez they were: Waldron - 3 Feb 1879 Saba - 22 Feb 1948 Virginia, USA, Clinton (Edward) - 3,March 1877 Saba - 7 Feb 1967 St. Thomas. VI, Ethel and Maria. From what I am being told Peter father name was indeed Johnny Simmoms.

I found this information on Caribbean Consulting Template: www.caribbeanconsulting.com it states athat 1877 Capt Solomon (Butchy Coonks) Simmons was captain of the 'Alice" registered on Saba, Solomon had two brother name Sammy Simmons and Arthur Wallace Simmons. Solomon had two sons Capt Johnny Simmons and Hilton Simmons. Solomon married a second time and had four daughter.

Peter Simmons was Captain of Sprague his brother Donny Simmons was captain of 'Cobb" Their Father Johnny Simmons was also capatin and owned 'Bunker Hill College' where the "Voice of Saba' is now located.

Could it be possible that Johnny was a middle name of Edward?

I have information on quite a few Peter Simmons, but none married to an Inez Dinzey Horton. According to a database compiled by Gosta Simmons (a genealogist from Sweden with Saban ancestry) there was a birth record for an Inez Horton on 17 Nov 1853 on Saba. I don't even have any information on a John Simmons with any sons named Peter either.

I did a search on Genlias which is the Dutch Ancestry database. This database is available online at www.genlias.com. Now, all of it is in Dutch, but Will Johnson (former lt. governor of Saba & genealogist still on Saba) has translated the info for me. Here is what I found:

Peter Simmons (age 27) married Inez Dinzey Horton (age 21) on 19 Mar 1875 on Saba. Peter's parents were Edward Simmons and Margaret (surname not mentioned). Inez' parents were Benjamin Richard Wright Horton and Joanna Dinzey. Edward Simmons & Benjamin Richard Wright Horton were deceased at the time of their marriage.

I found another record on Genlias for a marriage of a Georgeanna Simmons (age 29) to Gustaf Ekerman (age 32) on 9 Jul 1879 on Saba. Georgeanna's parents were Edward Simmons & Margaret Toland. Edward Simmons was also deceased at the time of their marriage.

In Gosta's database, there is a marriage record for an Edward Simmons & Margaret Toland 15 Aug 1832 on Saba. It also states that Margaret Toland was the daughter of Rev. J. Toland of the Episcopal Church.

I have a Rev. John Toland who was married to Ann Simmons and they had a daughter named Annie Simmons. It is possible that Margaret Toland was Annie's sister.

In Gosta's database it has John Toland listed as an inhabitant (occupation Episcopal Minister) on Saba from 30 Jun 1853 to 30 June 1863 and that he died in the 2nd half of 1863.

I also have an excel spreadsheet of baptism records for the Anglican Church in The Bottom, but I did not find any information on your Peter Simmons, Inez Dinzey Horton, Edward Simmons or Margaret Toland.

I hope this is helpful. Currently Genlias only has marriage records online from Saba. They are in the process of adding all of Saba's birth & death records as well. Please feel free to email me at mmsepter@everestkc.net.

Charles your name has come up before. I was born on Saba 11/30/25. My mother Alice Eliza Simmons-Johnson was born 05/11/02. Mentally she is still does fairly well. Until WWII Saba and St.Barths had very close relations. If I cannot find anything on William James Hassell, I am sure that Henry Hassell of Virginia might, His E-mail is . He just returned from Saba digging up material on his great grandfather.I will go through my records. If I have anything I will try to get back to you. I have plenty Hassell Blood also.

We live in Aruba, some members in venezuela and curacao, others in the United states. ig you look up "the lost de veers" i think that is the name you will find out everything on the husband ( de Veer) of IsaBella.they were important people in the W.I.C. the were governers/ officials in Africa, caribbean and suriname, representing the dutch west indisch compagnie.

Hi - Isabella Rosa Cacilda Martins De Clarencieux was the sister of my great-great-grandmother Maria De Monte Martins De Clarencieux. They had another sister Feliciana Antonia De Clarencieux, I believe. My information shows that Isabella was born Feb 3, 1793. Maria was born July 7, 1805 and Feliciana was born in 1806. Their father was Jean Baptiste Martins De Clarencieux and their mother was Sarah Simmons. I would be interested to know your connection.

I don't have much information on my grandfather and we'd like to know more. He was killed in an accident on his job before I was born, however my sisters met our cousins in Saba when they travelled there several years ago.
My grandfather had 7 siblings and several nieces and nephews, some of whom left Saba and went to the United States, Curaçao and other Caribbean countries to live. His wife's maiden name was Wallace and they lived in Bermuda. One of his nieces, Daphne Heyliger travelled to Bermuda a couple of times for a visit to visit my mother.
If you could give me more information about my family, I would be most grateful.
