This is very interesting thread for me. My grandfather was Edward Pemberton, born 1889 in Dominica, whose father was Sholto Rawlins Pemberton - one of the 5 children of Anna and Judge Pemberton mentioned above. If anyone has more information I'd be delighted to hear it. Apparently my grandfather ran away to sea as a teenager and settled here in the UK. We have no information at all about his mother, so if anyone can shed light here, please post.
