I too am suppose to be connected to Henry Morgan..the pirate...according to my father's recollection..his father's name, John Henry Morgan..and his father's name William Henry Morgan..(etc. possibly)....these names are documented and a family tree has been started going back..three .four generations..however, noting also that my grandfather, (called Jack) John Henry Morgan is from Wales..he is welch descent...so being more "intriqued" and excited about knowing more about my family tree..and also why Morgan the pirate was a pirate..lead me to searching abuot the stories or documents written about him as a person..I wanted to know more about him as a person...so I read old books written about him..some on micro film..etc.
Morgan was a very bright person..in that he knew how to get around and survive...in a dying Wales country, etc.
I won't go into all the details...there are old and new books written about the man...I read "anything" I can get my hands on..to tell me more about the man...I may be related to.."Will I ever know if I am related to this man?"...as some of you say..he had no children? I had heard that he did have children in his later years...when settled in Jamaica?...and possibly before...with the man traveling so much...as he did..it is possible that he may not have known much about his children ..even if he had any...with communication being pretty much ship....voyages ..and him being in "hiding" so much!....and wanted for a period of time...he had no time to settle down...and "survival" was on his mind most of his life...from Wales..his homeland...defending and fighting for his homeland..and the strong demands to be a leader..from his father...and the rivalry....he fell in love with his teacher..in Wales...often thought he may have married her...he wanted to..but she had other ideas...he was very jealeous...story they say is true....written around 1600's...and possibly the woman..who was on the ship with him later...was dressed as a man...so she could be with him.
So much written..in this story..read on micro film..because it was too old..and falling apart...they could not send a book from the library in that kind of condition...which made the reading of this book all the more interesting..it took several readings...at the library..with notes at hand...reading it became a "reality"...I was very "elated" to say the least!
any information you can share too..would be appreciated..
will share what I have..have any questions..will try to answer..doing alot of research....presently..
