Hi, not sure how the Charron's got there but they originated in Canada. My father is Gerald Lorenzo Charron and grandfather was Nelson Charron. We live in Lyndonville, Vermont.....there are tons of Charron's here. Nelson one of many sons and had 8 children of his own. He originated in Canada and we are located 1 hour south of the canadian border. We are French Canadian and have a bit of indian blood.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dawn,
Thanks for your reply. I already checked the Canada link but we are not descendants of any of the lines in Canada. I don't know if you're aware, but there is a very well organized Charron Association in Canada & they have traced their ancestors to the 1600's. Jean Charron (who was or is) the president ,even wrote & self published a book about the Charron's. You can find the association on-line. There's also a lot of information about the Canadian Charron's in FamilySearch.org. Hope this little bit of info helps in your search. I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

I think I may have Charron ancestors, from Picardie, near Amiens. Some families from Picardie migrated in the 17th Century to Fehrbach, a village near Kaiserslalutern that had been totally depopulated by the 30 Years' War. I suppose they may have gone there after Louis XIV occupied the Pfalz in 1673. I have ancestors named "Raquet" of that origin.
In 1667, my ancestor Jacques Augustin married Anne Madeleine Charron. I think this occurred before they went to Fehrbach. In the German records his name became "Jakob" Augustin and hers became "Anna Magdalena Scharon." I am descended from them through the Becker family and my name is a translation of "Becker" into English. I'd like to contact others of Fehrbach ancestry who might be relatives of mine. Hi, My name is Samantha Charron. I am related to the Charrons who moved from Canada as well. We do have Indian blood in my line at least. My Great Grandfather was Arthur Charron. His mother, Zelda, was the daughter of an Issaquah (sp) Princess.

Samantha, I remember my Mother saying there was Indian in her family but we can't seem to get very far back. My mother's maternal grandmother was Julie Sweet/Ledoux married Marcus Tatro/Tetreau 1859 Fitchburg MA. Her parents were Francois Ledoux & Julia Charron from Quebec. Can you place any of these names in your line?

It's been a really long time since this was posted by Cheryl, but I hope you are still keeping tabs and will respond. Julia Ledoux/Sweet (Ledoux translated to English is Sweet) is the sister of Celina Sweet Rivers, my paternal great grandmother. I have been researching the family genealogy for several years, the spelling I have of Julia M. (aka Julie) is Tatreault. This is how it is spelled on her gravestone, but has also been spelled Tatro or Tetreau elsewhere. She is buried in Leominster, Mass. I live in Fitchburg. We are most certainly related!
