I am looking for information on the Constable family who were resident in Dominica in the late 1700's. I believe they owned (partly or wholely) several estates on Dominica and St Vincent. There was a John Charles Constable (1770-1855)(my ggg-grandfather) and his brother Daniel Constable. There was also a sister who became Cecilia Rebecca Morson (1768-1842). Daniel had a son, Joseph, and two daughters Ann and Latitia, all of whom were alive in 1850.

John Charles was married to a Laetitia Maria Mourgue, but I have no idea as to her date and place of birth. I think they married in Dominica in 1798 but my evidence for this is flimsy. They had 7 children in total, four of whom were born on the Island, viz Latitia 1804, Charles 1805, George abt 1811 and Jane Gabrielle 1814.

I suspect that both John Charles and Latitia Maria Mourgue were born in the West Indies - but I don't know if this was on Dominica itself. John Charles spend much of his later life in the UK, but I am struggling to find details of his parentage, his place of birth, where he spent his early life. If he was born in the West Indies, when/how did his parents get to be there?
