My father has provided me with some small information regarding the Lopez-Silvero family, which he says was one of the most illustrious families of Santa Clara. He says that his father, together with General Gerardo Machado (who fought in the Ejercito Mambí), bought the sugar mill known as Central Carmita, which is located in Kilometer 16 on the highway between Santa Clara and Camajüaní (north of Santa Clara). He says that this sugar mill used to belong to the Lopez-Silvero family, and that it was named after Carmita Lopez-Silvero. He also told me that he knew Dr. Jesus Lopez-Silvero, who during the presidency of General Machado, was named Chief of the Havana Health Services.
