The latin music collector Henry Medina from Long Island did a special film on the life of Machito. In the film were numerous photographs and clippings of Machito's early years in Cuba. An excellent piece of work. Check with any of the Latin Music historians and they should be able to lead you to Medina

Hi, I went to high school with his daughter Marta Grillo, we attended Yorkville high on the east side of Manhatten. It was on 80 something and york ave. Later through my mother I learned that Marta had married and gave birth to a pair of twins. Machito attended the Senior Citizens Center at Holy Name church on 97th and Amsterdam ave, and so did my mother.
My mother had a grandmother by the name Maria Rivera, she had married a Marcelino Acevedo from Yauco. they had six children, one of which was my grandmother Gregoria Acevedo, Rivera. Any linx? let me know'.
