Dolores Inez Rubio y Castellano, my great-grand mother was the daughter of José Antonio Rubio y Osorio y Juana Castellanos y de Fuentes(see Santa Cruz y Mallen vol.6. p.81). Her granfather Estaban Maria Castellanos y Guillen del Castillo and his brother Jose Agustin are concider among the oldest mambises to fight and died in the ten year war. The Castellanos-Guillen del Castillo ancestry is well documented by Santa Cruz y Mallen. I am however looking for information on Dolores Rubios Holguin ancestry; Osorio, de Fuentes, Reynaldo, Marino and dela Pena

Dolores Rubio vda. de Alvarez arrived in Holguin, Cuba from
Spain in the early part of this century and later lived in Guantanamo. Accompanying her
were her children, Jose, Maria Dolores, Maria Elvira, Maria Josefa, Manuel, Maria Amelia and Maria Rosa. They abandonned property and a military pension in Spain. The children were born in several parts of Spain such as Sevilla, Granada and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The family owned a quinta somewhere on the Guadalquivir in
Andalusia.

Do you have any information on Manuel Arteaga Betancourt? He was a Roman Catholic church official (a vicar or cardinal, I think) in Havana in the 1940s. I believe he may be a cousin of Josefa Casales (nee Gonzalez), my paternal grandmother. Thanks in advance for any help.

Manuel Arteaga Betancourt was indeed a Cardinal for many years. He was active in social and political circles and his name appeared in the media many times.

1.1 Doña Ana María Arteaga y Guerra-Montejo, casó en 1849 en Puerto Príncipe, con Don José Nicolás Montejo y Agüero.
1.2 Don Ricardo Arteaga y Guerra-Montejo (1843-1915), Presbítero. Nació en 30 de octubre de 1843 en Puerto Príncipe, donde falleció en 6 de noviembre de 1915. My father, Edelmiro Juan Manuel Castellanos Arias I believe was born in Matanzas. He had two children: Jorge and Edelmiro and a dougther, Ana María who lives at Vedado, Habana. Jorge died in an accident whe Playa Girón invasion and Edelmiro lives in México City. He is a Jornalist like his father was a Jornalist in El Mundo. Before Revolution he was reporters chief at Informecion jornal in Havana. My mother Dulce María Suárez merried him and I am the only child of that marriage. I live in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA.
