Regarding the Garza family from the Canary Islands. All the Garzas from the Canary Islands were of Jewish descent. There is a new English book out that deals with the Garza family from the Canary Islands and even has the original Inquisition documents against Alonzo De La Garza. The name of the book is "The Conquistadores and Crypto Jews of Monterey" by David T. Raphael. It is available from www.carmihouse.com

hello,

carasaco is not a surname that I am familiar with. The Portales part of my family comes from the western most point of cuba, out in the country...my other surnames are Alfonso, Martinez and Mederos. Dont know where they came from in Spain as they had been in Cuba so long that information is no longer available. There are a few Portales's in Miami, ran into one cousin at a car lot, ends up he was family....wierd huh?
