I'm searching for relatives of my husband's grandfather who went by the surname Delgado Guanche. Guanche was a suffix they carried proudly supposedly indicating they descended from the aborigines of the Canary Islands.

For years, I figured his grandfather's mother must've had the surname Guanche, but later learned the truth behind the name. Ackkk!

From the few records I've located, it appears that this particular Delgado Guanche family was not a part of other Delgados in the 1800s - early 1900s Cuba. They lived in Guanabacoa, La Habana, Cuba from the early to mid 1800s.
