Hi, I'm interested to find out information about Maria Penn DOB;1912 Tortola BVI. Her spouse was Joseph Hendricks DOB:1912 from the Island of Jos Van Dykes BVI. They have I believe three daughters; Beryl Hendricks DOB;1938 St Thomas USVI, Berenice Hendricks DOB:1940 St Thomas USVI and step daughter Dorothy Sewer DOB 1936 St Thomas USVI.

In addition I'm interested to find information about Luciara Christopher DOB; 1877 Tortola BVI.

I really appreciate any information about my families.

I am interested in the same. I am a Charleswell. My father Lencito Charleswell was born in Long Look Tortola to Pedrito Charleswell. However, I am told that the Surname was originally Chalwell, and was modified to Charleswell when they intially migrated to neighboring St Thomas VI.

I have just seen your old messages and thought that I would likr to know more about the Penn family. I was told that my maternal Grandfather was called Handsome Mead, but that his given name was William Penn. I don't know just how true this could be, as my grandfather was of a fair complextion - similar to that of a MIXED RACE person, and he lived for most of his life in Montserrat.

I have been researching for over thirty years, and only seem to find information about my other contact's family. I have not made any new discoveries in a long time.

I am do not have information on William Chalwell, but willl certainly like to look into that. I am a Charleswell, however, I am told that the current surname that I am using has been modified from the original Chalwell. So, yes there is certainly a relation.

Lillian Smith Penn, Blanche Donovan Smith Penn and Conrad Smith Penn to my knowledge have never factored into any of the ancestrial stories that I can see. Blanche is the only survivor living in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at 94 years of age. I am the son who ironically works at the University of Penn --the nation's oldest universities. I have been asked on several occassions about this lineage from many. It would be a terrific gesture to recognize someone that is 94 years of age that has been though what she has experienced. Nibbs (of Antigua) Family Tree

My father is Denley Charles Augustus Nibbs. His sister is Elfie Nibbs Paul. Their father was Charles Augustus Nibbs. Unfortunately, Charles Nibbs died when my father was 3 so he does not know his paternal grandmother's name.

Denley married Islyn Italas Walker, also of Antigua, and had four children with his first wife (Steven, Nixon Patricia (me) and Carol), one with his second wife (Aaron) (m. 1994) and five others, only one of whom is called Nibbs - Fahron, born in 1959 in England, but now residing in New York.

I documents reflect that Alphaeus Osorio was born in 1885 to George Alphaeus O. Norman and Evanna Norman. It is possible that her name was also Emmerline. Also, by your last name, I know that you are family. I show that their children were James Foreman, Trophena Christine, Oratio Stanley and Cassemera.

Thanks much for the reply. Re Electroncs Unlimited, yes, that is the right direction for Florence Adina, a daughter of Ellen Norman. Florence Adina was one of the matriarchs of the current proprietors. So far it has been quite difficult to get to Ellen Norman's parents, so I am looking forward to any breakthrough.

Good Day!

I have someone called "Nechie" (female), and possibly a Mary as siblings to my Ellen Norman. Both sibs of Ellen Norman would have been living in St. Thomas before 1920. At one point the sisters apparently cared for one of Ellen's children, Florence Adina Kuschner Nelthropp. One or both siblings may have owned property in the Sugar Estate area of St. Thomas.

Rymer in Tortola and Spanishtown

Hi,

I am looking for information about my ancestors who owned plantations in Tortola and Spanishtown. William Rymer (dies prior to 1813) and Martha Rymer his wife who died in Tortola in circa 1805. William was one of the jury for the hodge trial and according to the slave records owned one slave. his father was John Rymer esq (Died 1813) who had plantation on tortola number 91 or 92 whihc later became the settlement for the freed slaves. from what I know the family was orginally from Clifton in Bristol. I dont' know much else and would love to know how they came to be on the island. Rymer is not the most popular of surnames and given the prevelence in the Carribean I have suspected if my branch were on other islands such as jamaica or barbados at some time prior to coming to VI. According to Martha's death notice it hinted that they also had holdings on Spanish Town but I have not managed to find any evidence of this.

Another Eliza Norman is reflected on the Norman tree and it shows that Eliza is the daughter of Abraham Oswald Norman and Theodora Wheatley. If this is correct, Eliza would have been my grandfather's sister and my mother's aunt. Very close relative. I have no further information but I will ask my older Norman and Wheatley cousins about this.

I checked the Norman family tree board and Alpheaus Norman married Evanna Wheatley and had Horatio who married Eliza Creque-Norman. That the parents that are reflected. I believe this is correct as to the parents.

I am researching this based on the information you have provided and I have found that Eliza Norman that I have on our board married a Creque and some of her siblings included Trophena Norman, Osorio Norman who married Emmie Titley Norman and Horatius Norman who married Edna Knight. The parents are reflects as George and Evanna Wheatley Norman but I am verifying that as I do see a conflict. The board has George as my grandfather's brother but he was my grandfather's cousin so I need to verify. Hope this helps.

Alexander Bott - priest in Tortola/Antigua

Seeking information on my ggg grandfather, Alexander Bott who was a priest (Clerk of the Holy Orders) in Tortola in the 1840's and 1850's.

He married Anna von Bretton (of the von Bretton's of St Croix - Danish) and they had a daughter Mary Bott (born in 1848) in Tortola. Not sure if they had any other children....

Alexander Bott died in poverty in 1850.

Any other information would be extremely helpful...

according to my Father my Grandfather was related to the Penn's by his Mother (?) or Father. Richard Wheatley my Grandfather moved to Tortola and was from Anagada. My Father Wesley Winston Wheatley was born on Tortola. Any info on the Penn's would be appreciated.
