Thanks Nadia. Do you know them over there? My grandfather is a Potter, Adolph Potter, son of Morris Potter. Morris (now deceased) had children with a woman named Eunice Frett. They are my great aunts and uncles. I've met them at a family reunion a few years ago, but I just recently got serious about finding my roots. Sometimes I see some of the sisters that come to St. Thomas to shop. They know my mother better than they know me. Her name is Colleen Potter (married a Salem). I plan to change that though and attend the family reunion they have every Boxing Day on St. Thomas or Tortola this year.
As far as my records, I have a lot of the Potters of my grandfather's and also of his sister Zelma and brother Eldred Potter (Morris' children with my great grandmother Casilda George). I have his sisters & brothers by Ms. Eunice Frett but do not have their children & grand children (if any). I also have as far back as Richard Potter, Morris' father and his mother Rebecca Malone and quite a bit of her family too. I am at a roadblock and trying to find where Morris' parents came from. My grandfather says that someone told him they are decendandts of three aborigini Australlian brothers that settled in Anegada, Tortola and Santo Domingo (now Dominican Republic). I've also spoken with former senator Osbert Potter (now the USVI National Guard spokesperson) and he said that he too did a bit of searching and said that "all Potters originated in Anguilla." We were in a grocery store so he couldn't talk much. Hence I am still searching for our true roots. :) Write back!
