In September 1823 David Hume and his wife Sophia Elizabeth Hume, with 6 children in tow arrived at the Royal Dockyard in Bermuda aboard the HMS Glasgow. On the 24th October 1825 Sophia Clarissa Hume was born. On 17th September, 1826 the mother died in childbirth, probably the baby died too. On 11 January 1830 the father died. The children were back in England in 1836 with their grandmother, possibly years earlier. The grandmother worked on getting three of the children into the Royal Hospital School in England starting in 1831.
I'm trying to find out how the children got back to England? Also, any burial records for the parents? I've been to the National Archives in Kew and I think I've reviewed all of their pertinent documents. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Brian Downing
