I have been reading the posts on this board and so I am replying. To those on this board who are related to or know anything about Rev. John T.M. Alves, I have a handwritten letter of his dated March 27, 1931 from "Bethel Union Street City of Hamilton." This letter was among papers my friend found in with other papers and documents of his parents. There was no envelope with the letter so I do not know who it was actually addressed to. The letter opens with "My dear Agnes." Although the letter was not addressed to either one of my friend's parents, for some reason they saved it. I am trying to determine why they saved the letter and what their connection is with JTM Alves. He indicates in the letter that whatever his relationship is with Agnes, he forgives her. I should add that my friend's father's NYC birth record has his name listed as William Martin Alves and his mother's name as Anna Alves. If any of this sounds familiar, please get in touch with me. Thanks.
