My father's name is Vincent Best and he hails from Rock Hall in St Andrew. There are many people that are genetically connected to the Best, Worrel, Cumberbatch, Weekes and Beckles.

As I understand it there were orignally 12 Best brothers, I beleive Sam Best may have been the eldest. They formed a citizen's bank in what would have been the 1920s and with that secured land from St Andrew clear into St Micheal.


Over the years the prolifiration of the name was acheived by the phenomenon in births that was the 30s in the Carrribean British commonwealth.

It was uncommon for anyone born in Barbados to have less than 2 siblings. The average may have been more like 5. I know that my father has 11 siblings, some I have met. I beleive I have between 50 and 80 first cousins.
