I am looking for the name Alexandre Victor Maraist (or any other Maraist) in the Island of Guadeloupe. He was born in Paris, France around 1800, and married Francoise Eugenie Desiree Grossin, also born around 1800 in Paris. They emigrated to Louisiana in the 1830's, but later Church and census records show Alexandre Victor Maraist as being from Guadeloupe. Family legend also said that he was from Guadeloupe or Martinique. His son Auguste Victor was born in ??? in 1833 and daughter Eulalie in Louisiana in 1839. Alexandre Victor M was supposed to have returned to France to dispose of the family's property, but was never heard from again. His wife, son and daughter lived and eventually died in Louisiana. I am looking for anything that relates to Alexandre Victor Maraist in Guadeloupe (or anywhere else outside of Louisiana, for that matter). We have a great deal of Maraist history, but Alexandre seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.
