Not sure if you are still searching for information. I am the great great grandaughter of Auguste. Our family legend has it that Auguste was born in France but made a pit stop in Martinque with the family after fleeing France during the revolution. He did indeed never make it to St. Martinville but there are two conflicting stories. First that because he was from a family of jewelers, he may been killed by pirates for jewels and second that he intended to leave the family. Or this is what my grandmother always told me.
