Linda,
Just back on the net,
Went up the Record Office the other day and had a few spare minutes;
1851 Census for Stammers St Issells
Mary Gunter H M 37 Labourers wife Jefferston
John Gunter S U 08 - St Issell
Sarah Gunter D U 06 - St Issell
Bartlett Gunter S U - Tenby

1851 Census Fox Holes St Issells
Mary Gunter H Wid 67 Pauper former Farmer St Issells
with family.

St Issells Baptisms
11 March 1804 Isaac Ferrier Gunter to Rees & Mary Gunter baptised
20 Dec 1781 William to William & Rachel Gunter baptised
06 Feb 1781 Mary Mariah to Thomas & Mary Gunter baptised
07 Feb 1779 Rees to Roger Gunter baptised
17 Mar 1776 Rachel to Roger Gunter baptised
22 Jan 1779 Mary to Thomas Gunter baptised
14 Feb 1773 Mary to Thomas Gunter baptised
Srched back to 1778

St Issells Mrge
15 Dec 1803 Rees Gunter to Mary Ferrier by banns. Rees signed his name Mary made her mark. Wittness by Thomas Parcell and John Prickett, Thomas Dalton was the vicar.
Searched back to 1778 no further mrge found.

St Issells Burials
Rees Gunter of the Foxholes buried 18th March 1831 aged 55 yrs.

As I say Issac Rogers Married Hannah Thomas at Tenby in 1782, this is the earliest Issac Rogers mrge listed for Pembrokeshire.

For future reference for what its worth, from other research, indexing and transcribing I am currently working on I am even more convinced your Ferrier/Ferrior will be found to come from Pembroke Town at least back as far as the Civil War, you never know one of your Yeoman ancestors may even have stood on the Castle walls looking at Cormwells army camped on the site of my bungalow !!!
Now back to the real world.

Owen,
Thankyou for all your help, the information is far more than I thought I would find. Am still working on the limited resources that I have. You never know I might just get back to Cromwells time or even before, a bit of wishful thinking on my part.

Best Wishes

Linda

Hi Owen, Sorry to trouble you again but wondered if you could help with a old family story regarding the Morgans. My Great Uncle Frederick Charles Gunter married Martha (Pattie) Brown. Martha Brown was born 26-6-1888 Wiston and shows on the 1901 census. Her father is Henry Brown who we can follow andher mother is Francis Morgan daughter of John Morgan. This is where we are getting lost. We seem to have trouble following them on the census. The old family story is that Martha is the the Great Grandaughter? of Canon Morgan. I have looked at the church record and the only Canon Morgan that I can find was Caesar Morgan born to Nicholas Morgan about 1750 and married ? 1776. He was educated at Haverfordwest before entering the church. Caesar Morgan died January 1812 and the family story is that Canon Morgan died after falling from a horse while hunting. I know stories can be twisted over time and would like to clear this one up if we can. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thankyou for the information regarding Rees Gunter, I have now got a copy of the marriage entry from Haverfordwest.
Best Wishes
Linda

Out of all the possibilities, I.M.H.O., John MORGAN married Elizabeth Allen in the Narberth Reg Dist 4th Qtr 1842 Vol 26 Page 907, a lightly alternative may be John MORGAN to Elizabeth Davies in Pembroke Reg Dist Vol 26 Page 1076, but this is only speculation, I would be quite willing to be corrected. We need to find John in the 1851 census.

Have just come across the grave of F.C. Gunter and Martha and Wilfred. There is no date shown on the headstone.

However it appears F.C. Gunter (Frederick Charles) was buried 18th Oct 1937 Martha was buried 02 Feb 1972.

I can not find the burial date of Wilfred, but do noted the burial of a Winnifred Gunter 23 April 1906.

Do you require a copy of the Jpeg?

Did you note the Gunter who is a current member of the Welsh international Football Squad.

Dear Mr Vaughan
Pls reference my request to an earlier one, concerning Thomas Griffiths & Elizabeth James, married in 1848 Pembrokeshire.
I most certainly will give you credit for your searches. I was just in Wales this past week looking vaguely around as an American tourist. It was hard to look through the driving rainstorms. But country is extraordinary & surpasses my initial impressions of Wales

Surnames: Thomas,
Hi Owen!

Hope all is good with you.

I've managed a break down the brick wall I had with David Thomas b.1799 in Kilgerran! Well actually I just moved it back thirty years.

David had a second marriage in Lambeth in 1856 to Emma Gibbs (nee Giles). On the certificate David says his father was Alban Thomas (deceased), Carpenter, presumably of Kilgerran.

Then I found an Alban Thomas in the 1841 Wales census aged 80 (so b. abt 1761) in Cardiganshire, Wales... but it doesn't pan out. There's also in the house a Rachel Thomas, young enough to be his daughter, aged 55, plus John Thomas aged 15, ALL born 12 km from Kilgerran. No mention of Kilgerran, so I think they are NOT related to my Alban.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
