Hi there,
I would greatly appreciate any help with a family I have been researching who lived in Newport Wales Henry and Katherine Pugsley and have found what happened to two of their children but have a brick wall with Alwyn Silvester born 1903 and sketchy info on Mary Irwin K BORN 1900 to Henry and Katherine in Newport. They had brothers and sisters :- Henry Ronald, and Marjorie Stella. They were well off and were involved with shipping and may have been related to Lord Irwin and Lord Halifax. I have searched every record I can think of for Alwyn Silvester's death or marriage (Mary Irwin may have died in Westminster) or anything but with no joy I wonder if there is a listing in the cemeteries or local obituaries-maybe they had a family grave or any local stuff there? They were all on the 1911 census.foxy

Hello Mike
Thanks for your kind offer.
I would be grateful if you could help me with these two problems: I am trying to find the marriage of Richard Llewelyn and Elizabeth( possibly James ) in Ebbw Vale around about 1850. He was born in Knighton, Radnor but was working as a mason in Ebbw Vale. Also to find the parents of William Medlicott, born Bedwellty 1801 and his wife Margaret Watkins , also born Bedwellty 1804. Any hints or tips you can give would be great
Jan

Hello

I am hoping you can help me.
My father in law (who has sadley passed) i am unable to find his parents or should i say cross reference them to ensure i am on the correct family.
My father in law is Reginald Victor Palmer he was born 27th June 1920 at 20 Glynn St. Abertysswg Rhymney county of Monmouth, his parents per the birth certificate is George Palmer Colliery Haulier (below ground) and Ada formerly Vale.
I cant find anything on his parents not even the birth certifiate. The nearest in marriage i found was with Edith Ada Vale in 1898 but unable to cross reference. I just wish we could have the 1921 census,ha ha.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Thank you
Ann

According to bible records my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas, was born in Bedwas, Monmouth, England February 20th, 1811. I know that according to Mormon records, in approximately 1849 Thomas married my Great Great Grandmother Salina Rees in Bedwellte. Marriage certificate shows name as Selina. Seems to have changed to Salina when she came to US. At time of marriage she signed certificate with an X. Salina's residence at time of marriage to Salina/Selina was Blackwood in the Parish of Bedwellte, Monmouth Wales. They had a child Edward Rees Nicholas who was born in Bedwellte, May 26th 1850. In the spring of 1851 they moved for reasons unknown to me to the United States. Upon reaching the states they settled in the Akron, Ohio area where Thomas worked in the coal mines. Here they had two other children Mary Jennett Nicholas, and John Rees Nicholas. (John Rees was my Great Grandfather.)

I have a bible reference of who I believe are siblings of Thomas: Edward a brother of Thomas born in either 1802 or 1812, Sarah 1805, and Mary 1808. I have not been able to confirm Thomas's parentage. I have another page of the bible that list a Mary Nicholas born September 15, 1835, and Edward Nicholas born November 5th 1831. Unless the date is wrong for Thomas and Salina's marriage, this would indicated a possible earlier marriage for Thomas or I don't know what. I have frankly been confused about all of these references and have not unravel it. I am particularly interested in confirming Thomas's parentage and learning something of his lineage. I would also like to know as much as possible about Salina. I have a some very very old photo's. Some I am sure are Nicholas's, but no way to identify them at this point... very frustrating!
