I would be grateful for any help me to trace my great grandmother Elizabeth Davies before her marriage in 1870.
The earliest record I can find is of her marriage to Henry Ward on the 21st Feb 1870 at the Sharon Chapel, Tredegar. Elizabeth is a 19 year old spinster living in Tredegar, daughter of John Davies, puddler in the iron works.
I can then trace her on all census from 1871 to 2011 where her year of birth suggested by the age she gives on the census varies between 1850 & 1851. Also her birth place is given as Dowlais and she speaks both Welsh & English.
I also have her death certificate giving her age as 72 on her death on the 25th Feb 1924.
I really need to discover her mother's name in order to pin her down on the 1851 (if she was born at the time) and 1861 census. This in turn may give me a more accurate estimation of her birthdate. There are so many Elizabeth Davies on the BMD register!
