I would recommend you try Monmouthshire Parish Record Transcripts which is a good place to start with ancestors from that county. Not every parish is totally complete but it is a very good source of information for baptisms, marriages and burials. Since you have his birth cert and know his mothers maiden name you may be able to find the record of his parents marriage.
