Does anyone living in Wales have any information or heard anything about the surname Deputy? The rumored history of the Deputys in the USA is that a Sylvester Deputy came over from Wales around 1695 but there is no documentation that I know of.

The surname itself is also a mystery, with some believing that the Deputys were all religious refugees from Poitiers, France who fled to Wales and took on the name "OF POITIERS" (De Poitiers) which became Deputy in the States.
