Marta,
I believe we "may" have a connection..my John Morgan was from Wales. There is a long line of John's under the surname, Morgan..that go directly back to Wales.
My grandfather settled in Iowa and all of this family resided in untilmately into the northern Iowa area...that I am directly desecended from. They had alot of land they farmed..most of the state of Iowa. They had alot of children and boys which made farming easy for them, raising and breeding work horses as well. The youngest son of John Henry Morgan was my father, Junior Merle Morgan. Most of the Morgan's still reside in the state of Iowa..also myself and all my parents children as well and their families.
What stood out to me more was the name William Morgan? About three generations back from mine is a William I believe. Also the fact that you say records go back to Iowa? Most of my relatives lived up around Jefferson, Adaza area as far as Fort Dodge area, however there were many families that had spread out all over the state of Iowa...not sure where they all ended up, but we do have a every other year reunion currently still going on since the first recollection of one from back in the early 1900's.
My father is still quite proud of this large family of caring Morgan's. The family ties are strong and the laugher and teasing is a Morgan tradition still going on..."they say we go back to Morgan the pirate". This is overheard from my grandma and pa Morgan who were my grandparents from my father's side..I use to stay summers with them every year! They almost became my second parents you might say...and they spoiled me. But they believed in one keeping busy...there was not a day gone by but what chores were done however strenuous..and laziness was not tolerated until chores were done, but when play time came....we were the best at them...and laughter always was there and strangers were our neighbors...and in the little towns we visited...everyone knew me, before I knew them..see my grandparents were so proud...they talked and knew all the people...who were their neighbors for years. Grandma was in every club imaginable...and grandpa....was no stranger either..especially from grandma mouth..at the local hairdressor...a girls wild dream...when I was five years old; I remember out door toilets, old metal tractor toys, baby shoes in grandmas collection...for bronzing someday...and the old high chair open to watch the train run out back exactly on cue...to watch every day..from her kitchen window while she prepared a huge meal for supper...which one could hardly see behind the tall corn stalks...of grandpas LARGEST corn FIELD....some days I travel to the town...that is still so small...and look at the land...around their home...I can imagine it..but it is void of their presence...but not so much....in my mind....
sharing memories? or looking further...ask away??
LaVon
sorry so long..."too many glemses of those memories in my minds eye."
