There is a Dr. James Swofford, sometimes spelled Swafford, from Wales. Any information you would have on the family tree would be much appreciated. He was born either 1798, or 1814, and murdered in 1877. see this post:

My great-grandfather, Dr. James S. Swofford, was born in Wales, British Iles, in 1798. He is buried in ? A son is buried at Bethel Cemetery, Union County, Mississippi which is marked with a tombstone.
He was an ambitious youth and sought a way to come to America while yet a young man.He secured passage on a sailing ship in the early 1800's landing in North Carolina.He worked for a year as an indentured servant for the ships captain to pay his way.He lived for a time in the Carolinas where he received his education in the medical field.
As did many European immigrants of that area, he drifted farther South and West, eventually setting in
