Bowen in Wales

I am trying to trace a William Alfred Bowen, a mariner, who was a Mariner, in Poplar, London, with wife Catherine on the baptism of 6 children, namely:

David Alfred 31.5.1815
William Robert born 28.3.1817
Thomas James 7.7.1820
Mary Rebecca 22.6.1823
Abel 2.10.1825 (my husband's great grandfather)
Frederick William 31.12.1827

I can find no trace of William Alfred and his wife Catherine in the 1841 census for Poplar, London, nor can I find Catherine's surname, their marriage, or when either of them were born.

I have been told that our Bowen family were north Welsh Roman Catholic fishermen from Wrexham but I'm not sure how accurate that is, apart from the religion. Certainly the generations have always worked on boats.

Abel went to India where he died in the 1860s.

If anyone can help me I would be truly grateful.

Regards to all
Jacqui Bowen
