Edward R. Hughes, my greatgrandfather was born in Wales Mar 1845 and was naturalized as a US citizen in 1869. He married Mary E. Evans and they lived on a farm in Venedocia, Van Wert Co., Ohio, USA. One family story was that he was sent to the US by his father because of something that had happened in Wales but I've been unable to locate his parents. There was one family in Denbighshire in the censuses who had a son, Edward, the right age. His is such a common name that there were many other children of the same name and year of birth throughout Wales.

Recently I had the Family Finder test done to identify genetic cousins by our shared autosomal DNA and one of my cousin matches is a descendant of a Hughes family from Denbighshire.

Does anybody have information on a Hughes family with a son, Edward.
