Hi Dave,
It's great to get your message! I can definitely give you proof of Jane Williams going to the USA. In 1945 she and most of her children (with their families) sailed to New York and then settled in Cambria, Wisconsin. I have copies of the ship's manifest. I have Jane Williams' land records, will, and pictures from the cemetery where she is buried. There is still one of her descendants living in her home in Wisconsin - the farm is named Bodwrog!

I would love to share information with you. I will send you a more detailed message to your personal address either later today or tomorrow.

Take care,
Michelle

Hello Michelle, I am the secretary of the Anglesey branch of the Gwynedd FHS, I have been doing some research for a member in USA, I have found most of the information you already have but have only just found you! I am willing to share what I have. The one fact that I don't have and at the moment I can't verify is did Jane go to USA? Hope to hear from you, so we can share what we have and then I can give them a surprise in the USA and put you in touch. Here's my email, dave@stonescience.fsbusiness.co.uk sorry it is so long. Best wishes, Dave

Hello, thank you for your reply, that sounds like it could have been my grandfather. He lived with Etty Ann Cree/smith here for many years and had 8 children with her. They never married and for a while we wondered if he had left a wife in Wales but we know now that Etty had married before that time. So maybe that was why they never married. It seems like she had never divorced. I am very great full for your help.
Warm regards.

Ps 3 of his children were called John (my dad) grace and Owen

There is no grave at Llandyfrydog of John Hughes and Anne nee Owen.
Probably if he was a widower he would most likely be buried with his 1st wife.
I have looked up the christenings at Llandyfrydog and there is a John Hughes christened 4 Oct 1767. I wonder if he could have been his son by his 1st marriage and the mother died at childbirth ??
There are a few John Hughes christened at various churches in the district of around Llandyfrydog.
John Hughes chr. 9 Nov 1740 at Llandrygarn. another at llantrisant on 29th July 1749.
At Bodwrog churchyard there is a John Hughes of Ty Croes who died Apr. 12 1793 aged 65. also his daughter Elin wife of Peter Morris ,late of Perth y Paen, Cerrigceinwen who died Feb 20th 1841 aged 78.
On the grave it says " The property of his son Thomas Jones"
I have also looked up weddings pre 1767 for John Hughes.
Wedding at Llantrisant John Hughes and Margaret Thomas on 20/05/1762.and another one there of John Hughes & Alice Davies on 20/5/1762
Wedding at Bodwrog of John Hughes & Sidney Hughes a widow
on 3/11/1761 and another at Llangwyllog of a John Hughes from Aberffraw and Mary Mark on 28/8/1761
I have looked up the churchyards of the graveyards for any John Hughes but could not find any corresponding with his age range born in the 1740's maybe.
If you would like any more details- just let me know.
G

I've attached the marriage of Thomas George and his wife, Delia Lecuyer that took place in Quebec. It makes mention of his family back in Beaumaris. His father, John is deceased before the date of the marriage, which was 16 Feb 1920 in Messines, Quebec.

Good day,
I am hoping SKS might be able to visit the archives and take a peek at some microfilms.

Location of office:
Anglesey Record Office is located at Shire Hall, Llangefni, Gwynedd, LL77 7TW.

seeking:
microfilm WPE/70 Beaumaris

The birth/baptismal record for Thomas George, born on or about 30 Apr 1899 Beaumaris. I do know he has a brother, Alfred George, who was born either the year after or before, and would appreciate info on him also.

his parents:
John George and Hannah Warren of Beaumaris, married estimated 1889-1898. Hannah's last name may be Owen instead of Warren.

I am following a lead from a marriage certificate of Thomas George, who married Delia Lecuyer in Messines, Quebec, Canada. Just prior to his marriage, he was baptized as an adult at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. I believe he converted from Church of England to Roman Catholic upon his marriage in Canada. Their marriage certificate says he is "the son of John George and Hannah Warren of Beaumaris, Wales, England"

I have searched the 1901 and 1911 census for Wales, but cannot find the correct family near Beaumaris. I am hoping to pinpoint his birth location so I might better find his family.

I live in Canada, so this lookup is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers,
Kristin

I have been able to research my side of the family, but am having difficulty with my husbands. What we have come up with is that Owen Jones (birth 1861) married Lizzie Edwards(birth 1867) in 1889 in Wales. They traveled to the USA in 1890 and had their first son Fred. Not sure where in Wales they are from It appears that Owen may have died in the St Lawrence Hospital in 1903. Unsure cause of death as there is no death certificate. Also unsure what brought him to the asylum. Any help would be appreciated THANKS!!!

Hello- I have a few Meyricks/Merrick/Myrick in my family tree-
I read somewhere that this family had the most male members serving in the Revolutionary War than ANY other surname. I would be honored to have any paper documents you would like to copy and would pay you for postage. My lineage connects with Rebecca Tracy and Lt William Merrick (on one proven lineage).
Hi Gwynneth,
Thank you for this reply.
Of the 3 marriages only 1 could fit as Rowland was born in 1818. I have found that Rowland and a Mary Hughes arrived in New York 12th August 1852 but, 4 months later Rowland left New York and arrived in Melbourne, Australia alone. I can only assume that Mary Hughes if she was his wife died around that time also her child as in Rowland Hughes 2nd marriage in Australia it states he is a Widow. Church record in Australia states his 1st wife and child deceased in 1849.
So this Mary Hughes who travelled to USA may not have been his wife. Rowland Hughes had a problem with dates for dome reason.
Thank you

It may be of interest to you that I have a snuff box which dates to the 19th century and has a brass plate on the lid which states: 'William Roberts, Madyn, Amlwch' I'm not sure whether this means that it was owned by your ancestor or made by him.

My family seems to have been closely linked to him, with two of my direct ancestors being his estate manager for many decades. They (the Elias family) even built the current Maenan Abbey while working for him - I am guessing that is one of his properties. any thoughts very welcome

Sorry about the language barrier, but I am curious to see any connections.

All I know is that part of the family went to Patagonia, but don't know who, and that on the passage over, one child of theirs passed away. The surname of the family from Talwrn was Evans.

Please reply on my e-mail which is brianwilliams163@yahoo.co.uk as I can bring it up on screen and use a translator at the same time.

Apologise for the lateness but I got a new computer and lost all information, but finally I have got it again, hence the reply.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards
Brian Williams
