Hi! I am looking for any information on the MacIntyre families of Barra. I am particularly looking for the following individuals:
Edouard McIntyre (MacIntyre) b. early 1700's married Bridgit McKenzie. They had at least two children :
John Baptiste McIntyre b. 1776 (in Barra??) and Marie Anne McIntyre. John Baptiste married Reine Damboise Bergeron of Carleton, Quebec, Canada.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

I don't have anything on the specific individuals you mentioned. But as far as "any information on the MacIntyre families of Barra", you might find my website interesting.
http://www.macintyre.ca

Basically it's regarding on the descendants of 'John MacIntyre (1772-????) of Barra'. Click on either the 'MacIntyre's in C.B.' link or 'John (1772- )', there is a bit of information on his immigration to Canada.

Jodie, I have just finished translating my research on the subject. The Charlo McIntyres descend from Neil mac Intyre of Barra, a.k.a Noël/Edouard/Edward/Haleonor/Eleonard McIntyre/McKenter.

My GG Grandfather John MacIntyre emigrated from Howbeg S Uist (Hebrides) to Ontario, Canada in 1848. So far my YDNA matches are closest to MacNeils from Barra so interested in this forum. I believe John had brothers, Neil, Alexander, Ranald and that their father was Donald (ca 1760-1841).

I couldn't access the first link in this thread and am looking forward to the research coming on this year in the 2nd link.

Is the link still working or is there a way I can access it?

If memory serves, it was a MacIntyre from Howbeg that was scooped up by the French Navy and taken off to France with a view to acting as pilot when the Prince Charles/Jacobite rising was in prospect in the 1740s.

Thank you rmacintyre25. This seems to confirm my suspicions that at least one of the two McIntyre families in South Uist (they claim they are different line to this day) was closely related to the Barra McIntyres, whom we suspect were initially MacNeils. NOTE however, we match MacNeils from Barra, but we do not match the MacNeil of Barra chief line.

Hi there,
I'm interested in your Ronald McIntyre of Barra. Having recently learned of our McIntyre link to Barra I would love to confirm if these are the correct details...

Our Ronald McIntyre from Barra moved to New Zealand and had a son Donald McIntyre, b. 1860 in Bulls N.Z. who had a daughter Winifred McIntyre, who married a Schrieber.

Our family link. Do yo have any tips, or clues?
